The 46th General Meeting of the International Intercable Association

 

         The 46th General Meeting of the International Intercable Association took place on November 25-28, 2013 in Prague (Czech Republic). At present the International Intercable Association has 89 members from 21 countries of the world, including those from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, USA, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and others.

         A scientific and technical symposium “Specialty cables (underwater cables, submersible pump cables for oil extraction, wires and cables for solar power sources): designs, technology, manufacturing equipment, materials and test equipment” was held within the framework of the General Meeting.

22 presentations of the leading world companies were made during the work of the symposium. The symposium was held in the form of 3 sessions.

 

         Session I covered general issues of specialty cables and their use. The following 5 reports were made during this session.

 

1) “Underwater cables. Actual State and Development Prospects” (JSC VNIIKP, Russia).

2) “Modern Designs of Submersible Pump Cables for Oil Extraction and Problems Occurring in their Manufacture and Operation” (JSC VNIIKP, Russia).

3) “Experience of Transportation and Installation of Underwater Cable Lines through the Example of the Cable Line for Power Supply to the Island of Valaam” (OOO EnstoRus, Russia).

4) “Technical and Economic Aspects of the Use of Solar Panels. Experience of the Maccaferri Group (ENERRAY S.p.À., SAMP S.p.A. Sampsistemi Division)” (SAMP S.p.A. Sampsistemi Division, Italy).

5) “Experience in the Construction of Solar Power Plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Technical Requirements for Design and Use of Cables. Lessons learnt” (VUKI a.s., Slovakia).

 

         Session II covered issues related to the specialty cable manufacturing equipment and particularities of the manufacturing technology (13 presentations).

 

1) “Stranding and Armouring of Submarine Cable” (SKET Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH, Ãåðìàíèÿ).

2) “Troester Extrusion Technology for the Production of HV Submarine Cables” (TROESTER GmbH & Co. KG, Germany).

3) “State of the Art and New Approaches to the Production of Submersible Pump Cables” (SAMP S.p.A. Sampsistemi Division, Italy).

4) “Modern Lead Extrusion Equipment for Submersible Oil Pump Cables” (H. Folke Sandelin AB (HFSAB), Sweden).

5) “Rosendahl Solutions for Special Cables” (Rosendahl Maschinen GmbH, Austria).

6) “Insulation Extrusion for Submersible Oil Pump Cables” (Maillefer S.A., Switzerland).

7) “Maillefer and Sub-sea Cable Production” (Maillefer S.A., Switzerland).

8) “Innovative LASER Welding Production Line for Submarine and Pump Cables” (Nexans Deutschland, Germany).

9) “High Performance Armouring of Submersible Pump Cables for Oil Extraction” (Bartell Machinery Systems LLC, USA).

10) “Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology of Conductor Cable for Solar Panels” (Bühler Würz Kaltwalztechnik GmbH, Germany).

11) “Modern Manufacturing Techniques for the Continuous Production of Submersible Pump Cables” (Davis-Standard LLC, USA).

12) “Taping and Sintering Technology for the Production of Oil Pump Motors Wire” (W.T.M. srl, Italy).

13) “Marking of Specialty Cables” (Medek & Schoerner  GmbH, Austria).

 

 

         Session III was devoted to the materials applied in the production of specialty cables (4 presentations).

 

1) “High Quality Materials for Submarine Cables” (Dow Europe GmbH, Switzerland).

2) “Polymer HVDC Submarine Cables” (Borealis AG, Austria).

3) “Special Cables for Photovoltaic Applications (Solar Cells) with Halogen-Free Materials of Condor Compounds” (Condor Compounds GmbH, Germany).

4) “The Quality of a Cable Starts with the Compound” (SIKORA AG, Germany).

 

 

         Russian companies  NP Spetskabel” Ltd., OJSC “Expokabel” and  “ELINAR Holding” Ltd. joined the International Intercable Association.

         Uzbek companies “UZKABEL” JV OJSC and “PachtaKabel” IP Ltd. were expelled from the International Intercable Association for their failure to pay the membership fees.

Roteq Maschinery Inc.” (Canada), “Tulsa Power” (USA) and “AndijanKabel Plant JV OJSC” (Uzbekistan) left the International Intercable Association pursuant to the applications submitted.

 

         The next 47th General Meeting of the International Intercable Association members will take place on May 19 – 23, 2014 in Belgrade (Serbia).

The subject matter of the scientific and technical symposium which will be held within the framework of the General Meeting will be the following: “Specialty cables (automotive cables and wires; winding wires, including enamel wires): designs, manufacturing technology and equipment, materials and test equipment”.
