Nexans is opening its first factory in Russia

During the today's press conference, Nexans, the world leader of the cable manufacturing, officially announced about the building of its first factory in Russia. This new industrial center will specialize in power and computer cables manufacturing. It is a good opportunity for Nexans to become closer to its clients and to dig its heels as a leading foreign supplier of cable production in Russia. This event takes place in 6 mouths after opening of the factory in China (Shanghai). Thus. Nexans is successively realizing the policy of planned development in rapidly growing markets.

The factory is situated in Uglich, Yaroslavl region, in 20 km from Moscow. The area of the factory covers 7 hectares. The sheltered area of the plant covers 12000m2 and 200 people will be employed there.

The factory is destined to the following production: low voltage self supporting insulated wires "torsada", middle voltage cables with XLPE insulation, adapted to Russian market, low voltage power cables made by German VDE standard, cables for cars and LAN cables.

Start of the building is planned to the second semester of 2006. In two years period they are going to turn out to transaction from 40 to 50 millions euro per year. The initial company investments in the factory building amount 20 millions euro.
