All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Cable Institute (VNIIKP) possessing a 55-year history up to the present remains the head scientific and research centre of Russian and CIS cable industry widely known all over the world. We have managed to preserve and grow a strong resource base for research and tests and to keep a mobile group of scientists, engineers and specialists having a great experience and knowledge in the area of cable science and technology.

Possessing more than 40-year work experience with the largest international companies dealing with insulating materials, cable manufacturing equipment, cable and wire production, we know how to do business in the free market conditions and offer our customers a wide range of services on the most advanced technical and technological levels. Above all, this is a comprehensive research of materials, development and initiation of new cable products; testing and certifying new products, designing and organizing new production plants. Together with our affiliate company, JSC "Trade House of VNIIKP", we also offer services in business promotion and business relations development with domestic and foreign partners.

The Institute has a state accreditation as scientific and technical centre for cable industry in Russia and CIS.

VNIIKP quality system is ISO 9001, MS ISO 9001-2000 certified.

On VNIIKP basis there exists scientific and technical council, which determines the general courses for cable science and engineering development; postgraduate education and Academic Council, which confers Candidate and Doctor of Science academic degrees.

JSC VNIIKP employs about 500 people.

Primary activities:

JSC "VNIIKP" works in the following main directions:

— basic scientific research;

— theory and methods of analysis development for various application electric cables and wires;

— creation of new advanced types of cable products, materials for cable production, manufacturing methods and cable production equipment;

— all-round researches of cable materials and products including those considering specific character of operation, defining reliability and durability, and residual recourses;

— cable products and manufacturing methods testing and certifying on Russian and international levels;

— works in the area of standardization and services in granting patents and licensing;

ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

To ensure competitiveness of cable works, material suppliers and cable products consumers VNIIKP performs the following activities:

— Quality management system development, introduction and preparation for State Standard Certificate (GOST R)), as well as in Dutch company KEMA (KEMA and IQNet Certificates) for conformity with GOST R ISO 9001:2001 Standard (ISO 9001:2000) including quality systems certified in accordance with GOST R ISO 9001(2):1996 (ISO 9001(2):10094) requirements;

— Quality management system examination and corresponding report and conclusion issuing;

— Environment management system development, introduction and preparation for declaration or certification in accordance with GOST R ISO 14001:1998;

— Information and methodical support of enterprises and their certified management systems;

— Product testing and certification organization in Dutch company KEMA with issuing protocols and certificates recognized all over the world including KEMA-KEUR Certificate.

In VNIIKP works accredited Test Centre (Russian State Standard Accreditation Certificate No. ROSS RU.0001.22KB13).

Patent-licensing and invention work:

At the name of VNIIKP 1160 documents protecting intellectual property have been received.

48 licences for VNIIKP developments have been sold to Russian and foreign enterprises from Italy, France, Japan, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia, India ect.

Standardization:

VNIIKP is a head organization for standardization in cable industry of Russia and CIS within the bounds of the International Association "Elektrokabel".

One of the main directions in VNIIKP work is Russian State Standards (GOST R) development including new ones and in substitution of interstate standards (GOST) worked out in the USSR.

VOLUNTARY CERTIFICATION AGENCY "CABLECERT"

Since 1997 two bodies have been successfully working in the frame of VNIIKP: Certification agency "Cablecert" and Test Centre of VNIIKP both accredited by the International Fund "International Association of Quality "SovAsK".

In October 2000 "Cablecert" and Test Centre of VNIIKP passed re-accreditation in the area declared and received certificates which entitle to hold tests and certify products (No. SSAQ 000.5.1.0025 and No. SSAQ 00.6.2.0111). In December 2001 Test Centre of VNIIKP also received Accreditation Certificate in GOST R Certification System (No. ROSS RU.001.22KB13).

Among Voluntary Certification Agency customers there are widely known and new Russian and foreign companies are represented.
